A long-time resident of the City of La Vergne, John Rutledge was born in the old Murfreesboro hospital and lived in Smyrna until he was 1-year old. His parents moved to 253 Nelson Drive La Vergne in 1976. John attended La Vergne Primary, Roy Waldron Middle School and graduated from La Vergne High School in 1993.
John has been involved in various boards in LaVergne, including the Greenway Committee, Construction Board of Appeals, and most recently is serving as a member of the Planning Commission. He has also served the community in the public safety sector, being named a firefighter in 2011 with the La Vergne Fire Department, where he earned the rank of Lieutenant. John left as a full-time employee in December 2020, but remains a part-time firefighter. He is currently enrolled in Motlow State Community College working on an A.A.S. in Paramedicine. He is also currently employed with the Nashville Fire Department as a Paramedic.
John is an adjunct instructor with Motlow State Community College in the EMS program teaching EMT classes. He has a passion to give back to the community that he grew up and lives in. John is grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the We Are Hope Foundation.
